About US
Philadelphia Skyline The Southeast Region consists of nine counties: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, and Schuylkill. Diversity best describes the region, with 33 percent of the area listed as rural and 67 percent urban/suburban. Almost 5 million residents live in these nine counties, accounting for over 40 percent of Pennsylvania’s population. This population is expected to grow by about 1/2 to 1 percent a year, with the base shifting from the urban areas to surrounding communities. African American , Asian, and Latino populations continue to increase with the heaviest concentrations found in the migrant population.
