About the Southwest Region

Penn State Cooperative Extension in the Southwest Region continues to bring the research of Penn State University and the land grant system together with the experience of people in local communities. Teamwork, partnerships, and revenue generation are the key themes for the current strategic plan for the region.

Mission Statement
The Southwest Region functions as an administrative unit of Penn State Cooperative Extension in the College of Agricultural Sciences. The region aligns with the Penn State Cooperative Extension mission of extending research-based, non-formal outreach educational opportunities to all Pennsylvania citizens on important current and emerging issues pertaining to agricultural, food and fiber system; natural resources and the environment; children, youth, and families; and economic and community development.

Vision
Penn State Cooperative Extension is the front door for stakeholders to access Penn State University. The Southwest Region's vision is to be recognized as a leader for enhancing the quality of life for individuals, families and communities through research, education and outreach.
