Economic & Community
Development Program

From advice and guidance to leadership and teaching, volunteers have many avenues for engaging in the Penn State Economic and Community Development Program. These programs are usually conducted by regional or multi-county educators. If your interest is sparked by programs at http://www.economicdevelopment.psu.edu/ecdprograms.htm, contact your county extension office to explore opportunities for volunteering.

Economic & Community Development Advisory Committees
Local residents provide leadership and guidance to ensure local program needs are addressed. Advisory committee members help identify program needs, assist staff in developing, marketing and delivering educational programs, and evaluate program impact. For details of how to help in your community, contact the regional economic and community development educator through your county extension office.

Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow
Strong leadership for the future is essential for leaders of civic and nonprofit organizations, youth groups, the business community, elected officials, and citizens. "Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow" is a community leadership program that grooms the current and prospective leaders in their communities. Volunteers can extend the outreach of the community development educators by strengthening community leadership skills. Information is available on the program website or by contacting your county extension office.
