Feature Story

Immigrants in U.S. Labor Market

Substantial interest in the past few months has been generated in the role that immigrants play in the U.S. labor force. Bills introduced in the 109th Congress would alter the laws governing the admission of temporary workers under the H-2A program for agricultural workers and the H-2B program for other workers, change the requirements for granting admission to the country, and take steps to reduce illegal immigration. With all of this interest in the status of immigrant workers, it is important to know "what is the role that they currently play in the labor market?" To find out more, read the Summer 2006 issue of Workforce Trends.
